Role of the Unit Council and Venturer Scout Leader
The Unit Council is recommending one of its members for the highest award in Venturing, an award which “goes outside”
of the Venturer Scout Unit.
The Unit Council must be able to ensure that the Award work undertaken required determination and was a challenge for
the Venturer Scout.
The standard of the Award work should be of the highest standard within the capabilities of each Venturer Scout.
This first stage of the recommendation deals not only with the Award requirements but also with the character
requirements of the nominee.
The Unit Council sets the standard and it is the Venturer Scout Leader [see role description in Branch Venturer Scout
Council Policies] who is responsible for the training of the Unit Council.
