Leadership Development
Leadership Course
This is a Branch run course and is a live in, fully catered activity. This is a requirement for the
Queen’s Scout Award.
Minimum age to take part is usually 16, but even if you are not interested in gaining your Queen’s Scout Award, you
should try to make sure you undertake a leadership course as part of your own development. You can always add it to
your resume and mention it in your job interviews.
Unit Management Course
This is a Branch run course and is designed to introduce Venturer’s to all aspects of operating the unit including:
- the structure of Scouting
- role and responsibilities
- fundraising and finances
- developing a program
- planning interstate and overseas activities
- Queen Scout Award
- Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
- Branch activities
It is currently run as a one day course in a fun interactive format. Unit Management Course is one activity that needs to be completed to obtain your Leadership Development award part of the Queen Scout Award. It is an excellent opportunity to meet other Venturers and Leaders.
