Environment - Recycling, briquettes
Time needed
3 hours.
Cost
None.
Numbers
Unit.
Description
Have the Venturers bring old newspapers and shred them. Mix some flour and water to make a cheap glue, add some of the shredded paper and create a (mess) mache. Make a round shape approximately the size of a softball ball, adding more shredded dry paper as required. Ensure you squeeze out the excess glue as you go. Never let the ball get too dry while under construction. Allow it to dry completely and use it as a fuel supplement for camp fires. These briquettes are very good for areas where firewood is scarce, like Wilpena and the Gammon Ranges. They are easier to pack in a trailer among personal gear than wood.
