Service - Country Fire Service
Time needed
1-3 hours or a continuous service.
Cost
None.
Numbers
Keep to a minimum as you do not want to crowd the CFS officers.
Description
Arrange a visit to the local CFS station that involves going through the station and having its
functions explained.
The service that Venturers can do is to assist in servicing the equipment used to fight fires: the truck, pumps,
hoses and knap sacks.
All the equipment used by the CFS is checked and tested at least once a month or fortnight, depending on the level
of fire risk at the time.
Venturers under 16 years of age are not allowed to assist in fire fighting. Instead they can help in the important
task of maintaining the equipment.
