The criteria set out below is a summary of the requirements. The Venturer Scout Passport should be used to
determine the exact conditions required.

This area covers the topics of Vocations, Leadership and Unit Management.
All three are compulsory.
The Unit Management and Leadership courses give training in the skills necessary
for both Unit leadership and also as a preparation for the move into the workforce.
The vocations area allows choices from a number of alternatives.
The badges go on the right arm. See page 10 of the passport or our
Badges page.
It is expected that this award will require a minimum of 63 hours.

Vocations
Unit Council approval required. A minimum time of 25 hours is expected.
You must do number 1 AND also one from either 2, 3 or 4.
- Prepare a personal resumé to present to, and discuss with, at least two employers.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) may be given for the resumé
if it is current and up to date.
A request should be made to the interviewer to do a small comment report
on the presentation of the interview held and then brought back and discussed at Unit level.
- Research three different vocations and report back to the Unit.
- Investigate small business management.
- Compare the various types of financial accounts available. Find out what information is required
to open accounts and the associated costs.

Leadership (see also our

Unit Council approval required. A 16 hour course followed by 10 hours of application.
Participate in a practical and theory weekend covering aspects of leadership and communication etc.
and then demonstrate an application of these skills.

Unit Council approval required. An 8 hour course followed by 4 hours of application.
Participate in a one day activity covering topics such as the roles and responsibilities of leaders,
and then prepare a written report on the leadership and management processes of a Government or Charity
or Professional organisation.
