- I started my Queen’s Scout Award before the new Venturer Record Book appeared in April
2004. Some courses
are signed off in my old book. Some requirements seemed to have changed. Do I follow the old requirements or the new?
Do I need a new book? What about things that have been signed in my old Venturer Passbook?
- The only real changes between the old and the new are of a formatting nature and the Award
Scheme has remained the same.
If you are using the old passport – don’t worry as you can continue to do so. If you are using an interim passport,
then you may change over to the new Venturer Record Book (if you want to) and transfer any signatures you have into
this new book. If you are just beginning to do your Queen’s Scout Award then you need to obtain the new (April 2004)
Venturer Record Book to begin your award.
- Can you get paid to do something which is going to be used as part of the award scheme?
For example: Getting paid by the local council to work on refurbishing a small rubbish dump.
- Fancy getting paid to do part of your Queen’s Scout Award! Go for it!
The activity is the important thing i.e. Does it fulfil the requirements in the passport?
- Can I use my Queen’s Scout Award as part of my school work?
- Yes you can. If you have completed your Queen’s Scout Award the Senior Secondary Assessment Board of
South Australia (SSABSA) recognises the Award. See our SSABSA page for further details.
- Can you get your Queen’s Scout award if you have joined the Scouts at 15 years of age. Is this
possible?
- Yes you can. The age criteria is that you complete all the requirements before your eighteenth
birthday. Have a look at the Award Parameters page.
- The Venturer Passport calls up ASC-approved examiners for Personal
Growth 1-4 (Expression1 / Lifestyle1 / Ideals1 / Pursuits1), First Aid, and Outdoors1,
but the Awards Approvals page on this web site only calls up Unit Council
approval - can Unit Council approve examiners at that level?
- In South Australia - Yes. The approval page is correct for South Australia. A good question to take along and ask at your next District Venturer Council. You may like to download the
Queen’s Scout Award Examiners form from the forms page. You will see that only a few of the award areas require an ASC examiner in South Australia.
- What is the closing date for Queen’s Scout Applications for 2007?
- 31st July 2007.
