Onkaparinga District has become increasingly more cohesive since the units in the district have met once a month for a district activity immediately following each DVC. Charles Sturt Unit also joins in at these times as shown by their presence in the photo above. This was the very first District Venturer Camp ever! A fantastic weekend was held by all, especially those who went sea-water kayaking (including yours truly).

For Rapid Bay to put on such a glassy sea (for those that know the area it is hardly known for it’s placid weather) was just magic! The other major activities included snorkelling around the head and a solid hike within Deep Creek Conservation Park.
The camp was a great success principally because those present knew each other (and their eccentricities) fairly well, the weather, the meticulous organisation of Jason Lawrence (VL, Mt Barker) and of course the brilliant spread of food organised so capably by Graham Mann (VL, Grasby Park) and Len Weir (VL, Charles Sturt).
For me the kayaking was a hoot. I am hooked!
The camp was such a success it will definitely be repeated.
