Scouting Statewide September 2005
Hi Everyone, Well, the roast is in the oven and smells delicious. I haven’t done my nails yet and the ironing is still screaming at me to go and do it, but things can wait for a little while until this month’s blurb is written. I have been a bit quiet over the last few months so I thought I had
better put get this together to let you know that I am still here and to let you know that the Venturer Section has had some really positive outcomes that I would like to share with you. First off I am pleased to announce that in the last 12 months, our wonderful section has increased by 25%!!!
YES, that’s right 25%. That is something that you all need to feel very proud about – you are all working together to get this section up and running and that is one heck of an increase. When I went to my last National BCVS Conference, and we have to give our report, little old SA is the 4th
biggest state in Australia. Given the fact that we are behind QLD, NSW and VIC who have a heck of a lot more people that we do, we are doing a brilliant job. So to all you Leaders out there, take your right hand up and over to your back, drop it down a bit and give yourselves a pat on your back
for doing such a great job.
Our other change in the section is that Venturing Green is changing. Yes, we all would like to that Shazz for her wonderful work for the past 6 years, but things change and we are now relocating and renovating this activity. Branch Venturer Council discussed the choices we had and it will have a
bit of a revamp and will be incorporated into the Murray Darling Rescue. We are coming up with a new name – something like “Venturers to the Rescue” and this will be an annual event. It will be great to see the Venturer Section represented at such a positive event and if we get behind it – we
will be seen on mass and our work will be seen for many years. More information on this will be coming out in the next few months. So stay tuned to the website.
SuperSplash is again underway and the theme is “Pirates Paradise” We will be having it down at Milang for another year and Paul Ware is looking after activities. Now, if you know Paul, you will then realize that the activities will NOT be boring and even if the wind does come up this year, there
will be plenty of land based activities to keep you interested. The application form is on the website and there is a flyer in this Statewide. So now all we need you to do as responsible Venturer Leaders is to PROMOTE, PROMOTE, PROMOTE........come on, we had a little downturn in numbers last year
and we want to see those numbers increase for both Venturers and Leaders. The cost is very much the same, we tried really hard to keep them the same, but inflation always mucks things up and we have had to increase a few of the fees. Unfortunately, that’s life and we just couldn’t help it. But I
am sure that it will be an event not to be missed.
The initiative activity went really well. Both Initiative activity Leaders, being Michael Woodward and Paul Ware do a fantastic job.
As I am writing this, we have a huge amount of Venturers attending this next Leadership course. This is the largest number that we have had in the last few years. So it will be great to have such a number of youth there, large numbers always makes for a really good course. Good luck to those
attending, as you have Kylie cooking for you (LOL!!!) Na, really, she is a very good cook. And the course will be fantastic as well. Michael White is always a good presenter and I am sure that you will have a great weekend.
So that is about all from me this month. Life is as busy as ever and if you are really interested in that Administrative job with the section, please contact me.
Take care, and keep smiling.
