VENTURING ON     . . . news from Venturing SA

KATE’S BLURB:
Whyalla/Port Lincoln combined Unit Management and Leadership course. Well, been there done that and just didn’t get the t-shirt to prove it – BUT, (I did get to drive a Corvette Stingray – I do have pictures to prove that!) and the course was a huge success as you would have read in the previous pages. We all had a wonderful time and in the end I reckon the Venturers had some fun as well as learnt some things – so all in all, the precedence was set and we have now started to think about taking this course to other country areas. So look out Mt Gambier – I reckon you might be the next ones in line next year. This is a new concept and one that was well worth doing for all involved. So I will leave you to read the reports from the Venturer Leaders from Whyalla and look at the pictures and see for yourself. For more pictures, go to our website and check the whole lot out, and yes – Sam and I did travel in that ridiculously small plane.

Picture of Bob. Supersplash LogoPlease meet Bob, the SuperSplash Penguin. He will be our mascot for SuperSplash 2004 and I have only called him Bob because that’s all I could come up with at 12.30am when I was writing this report. Any other cool name could be taken into consideration or I can be bribed which copious amounts of chocolate to rename him. But, the planning is cruising along and we will have the application forms out real soon. Stay tuned to your District for any promotion and also to our website for the application forms.

We will be expecting 20 Queen’s Scouts to be presented their awards at Government House in October. We have exceeded our numbers by nearly 33% but this is due to the extension of time as we normally have Act of Loyalty in March and we have had a few extra months this year due to the change in date. But never mind, there are a whole lot of Venturers out there just doing their best to complete their Queen’s Scout Award and I wish you all the luck and hope that you will be successful in your quest.
Our website is www.venturers.sa.scouts.com.au - please have a look at this fantastic site, which is so lovingly maintained by the ever patient Mike Turner. I am sure you will have a few laughs and read things of an interesting nature in amongst all those pages.
Take care, and keep smiling – just cause it makes you feel good and I will hopefully catch up with you all in the next couple of months.

Yours in Venturing
