Scouting Statewide September 2003
VENTURING ON . . . news from Venturing SA
Things are really hotting up with the Jamboree as well as Venturing
activities.
I have heard that the Venturer Sub Camp is now settled in one spot and we have about 230 Venturers who have applied to help. If any of your Venturers are still interested in attending but haven’t put their form in, they had better do it as quickly as possible. We would like to get over 300 Venturers attend. Loads of Leaders are also involved with helping run activities and sub camps so even thought it’s a Scout activity - the Venturer Section is showing it’s true colours. Keep hanging in there - everyone is getting tired but it’s only 100+ days now and then it will be just a great memory.
SuperSplash: There is a flyer for you to photocopy and pin in your Den. You will each receive a SuperSplash Pack in the near future and some Units will get a visit from the promotion team. We are cruising along nicely at this point in time and it’s looking like it will be a fantastic event. Thinking of a tattoo? Well you can be daring and have an air brushed tattoo while you are down at SuperSplash. They are non-permanent so you can have one without worrying about what it is going to look like when you are elderly and sitting in your retirement home!!
Fullarton Barn Dance: For those who were wondering when this was going to take place - well, you will have to attend SuperSplash to have a bit of a shindig and docey-doe. We have decided to incorporate this activity into SuperSplash and have a kind of Aussie Luau for the entertainment on the Saturday night. So it will sort of be “Not the Fullarton Barn Dance” really.
Meet & Munch: We will be skipping the September M & M only because we have been offered an opportunity to spend a twighlight session at the Glenelg Adventurous Activity Centre and we had to wait until daylight savings to come around, so we can paddle on the pad at twighlight. This will be our final M & M for the year and I would love for as many people as possible to come along and join in the frivolities, lashings and barbeque. The meat for the BBQ will be supplied all you need to bring along is yourself and a towel and probably clothes would be a good idea as well.
Venturer Manual CD: This is just about ready for production and will be issued to every VL & AVL by the end of November. There will be no cost to you for these, it’s “on the house”. Chris Wise ABC Cubs has been helping out with the final touches and tidying up bits, thanx Chris for assisting our Section.
Venturer Maroon Hats: There are still some hats to purchase - please promote these to your Venturers and they still cost only $5.00. I will be selling them as SuperSplash so let them know to bring $5.00 along to get one.
So that’s about enough from me for this issue - keep your Venturers informed as to what is going on in the Section and I would love to see you at the next Meet & Munch and also as SuperSplash in you surf ‘n’ Hawaiian gear.
