Scouting Statewide August 2004
This weekend we are doing a first for the Venturer Section – we are taking training to the country. The Leadership Course and the Unit Management Course are being combined into one course and is being conducted in Whyalla. There will be attendees from Port Lincoln as well. It is a first and if it is successful – we will do this once a year and alternate between Pt Lincoln, Mt Gambier and Whyalla. It has been an exciting project to work on and should be a fantastic course.
We have a total of 20 recipients of the Queen’s Scout Award this year – the dinner will be held at a function room at the Wayville Show Grounds. We are all very excited about the number receiving their awards, which include one from 2003.
SuperSplash is now a happening thing. So be prepared for some promotional stuff happening in your district soon. It will be down at Milang again this year – so those who went last year – tell your Unit to come on down this year. We have more activities, more fun and more everything organised. Trust us – we are the organisers!!
I was privileged to be involved in the inaugural weekend of the Young Leader Development Program – I actually stood in for Sam Van der Wijngaart and I was so pleased to have the opportunity, because it is such a fantastic concept. We have so many wonderful young people who are involved in this project and hopefully one day will be helping us out in our Section. Well done to you all and I hope that you really enjoy your time in the program.
Photos of this weekend are on this website!
Catch up with you all at the All Leaders of Youth Weekend in August.
Cheers
