You can contact HQ to get phone numbers or mobiles etc.

Supersplash: Will be held at Milang and will be a huge event with a new venue and a renewed enthusiasm from all involved. There could even be a new activity of Land Yachting.
Contact Person: Jo Scheiffers-85368053

Easter Venture: This will be again held next Easter in 2003. You would have heard that we had to cancel this years which was disappointing for everyone - but for those eager beavers, a mini EV happened at Mt Crawford which was a success. So tell your Venturer Scouts about EV (or for Venturer Scouts - reverse the psychology and tell your Venturer Scout Leaders about EV) and encourage them to take part in the one planned for next year.
Contact Person: Michael Woodward - details above.

We had a very successful M & M meeting this month attended by many new Leaders. We discussed how to encourage Venturers to do an Expedition and how we would go about this and also the paperwork after the expedition. We also had "Table Talk" where we discussed how the Awards Standards Committee worked and it was agreed that a flow chart be created to show the procedures of the Queen’s Scout Award. It was also made apparent that we need a "New Leaders Pack" which would be given to any new Venturer Scout Leader or Assistant VSL. This pack would include any forms needed to begin a Unit and the guidelines for the Queen’s Scout Award and also any other relevant material the Branch Venturer Council deems necessary to put in it. It will also include the names of relevant publications for the Leader to read.

The next M & M is on the 11th September 2002, at HQ at 7.30pm. Please try to come along - I will send everyone a reminder note out beforehand.

I have changed next years meeting dates for Branch Venturer Council and M & M’s to the third Wednesday of the month. Branch Venturer Council’s will be held on the even months and the M & M’s will be held on the odd months. This will enable the Rover representative to attend our meetings as this year, our meetings coincided with their meetings and we did not have a Rover rep at our meetings. This is important to keep up the connection with the Rover section.

I am still looking for someone to take over the production of a bi-monthly newsletter for the Venturer Scouts and Leaders.
If you would like to be the editor and take over the organization of this newsletter - please let me know. I would like to have this ready to roll in the first term next year.

Now onto the Training bit. I sent out letters to all VSL’s and AVSL’s who had not yet completed their basic training. This stirred up a bit of the proverbial, but nevertheless it got people ringing me and asking me what’s going on. Any queries you may have about the Basic Training refer to me or please contact Peter Lane he is the Training Guru and will be able to answer your questions without hesitation.

Now for PLA’s - we don’t have many PLA’s for the Venturer Section but that hopefully will change in the near future. If you need a PLA please contact me and I will give you the name and number of the person closest to your District. All the PLA’s must be Registered Venturer Leader’s, Assistant Venturer Leader’s or District Venturer Leader’s and you do not have to have one in your District - seeing we don’t have too many you can "District hop" and go to a PLA in either an adjoining District or one close by. So if you have any queries about PLA’s please give me a ring and I will let you know about one close to you. I will be approaching VSL’s and AVSL’s who may be eligible to do the PLA course in September and hopefully we will slowly start to build up our team of PLA’s.

I reckon that is about all for this month - keep up the good work and I hope to see you all at one of your District Venturer Councils or at an M & M in the near future.

Yours in Venturing
