Cycle Challenge - 2004

Bicycle

The first Venturer Cycle Challenge was a successful day enjoyed by all who attended. The only disappointment was from the Venturers who thought that more teams should have taken up the Challenge as they did.

The idea of the one-day event was to have a small Challenge to prepare teams for the larger Blinman to Burra Challenge in September 2004. It is not to late to have a go, if sufficient interest to take on the smaller Mt. Baker to Murray Bridge Challenge is generated it can be run again as preparation before the September Challenge.

SO get a team together. You will need to have a road worthy, correctly maintained mountain bike with four riders to ride it, along with a transport vehicle and driver.

The idea of the Challenge is to complete the distance of the ride as well as competing in the challenges at each the checkpoint along with the observation trial between checkpoints. Each rider to complete a stage while the others attend to the observation trial whilst being driven to the next checkpoint where they will compete in the competitive events. At each checkpoint the riders change over and to on the next checkpoint.

The smaller Venturer Cycle Challenge with take the teams from Mt Barker to Murray Bridge with a lunch stop at Mannum. If wishing to take the challenge contact Paul Ware for further details or phone on 8388 6152.
